We will be gathering on Sunday July 31, 2005 to celebrate the life and achievements of a great man. A man with “a vision” for a country he truly loved. A modern Iran. A country where there would be no gender discrimination, no poverty, no illiteracy and no hate.
Like any developing country, Iran of the 1970’s was going through growing pains. But this man had “a vision”. He knew we would get past it only if we were patient.
Unfortunately, as a nation we were not patient, nor wise. We did not share “his vision”. A country that was called the “Island of Stability” by President Carter on his visit in December 1977, a country that played such an important role in keeping the whole region stable was soon going to go through turmoil, and this great man could clearly envision the chaos that would follow.
He even tried to warn us by telling us he had heard our cries for freedom and change. He told us that together we would get past the hard times and he asked us to be patient and work with him.
Did we listen??!! The answer could be found in the events of the past 26 years. The world referred to him as a dictator and the Ayatollah as a saint!!!!! We ask the world to look today, closely at the events of the past twenty-six years. Political force of Islamic Fundamentalism and state sponsored terrorism in the name of Islam began with the inception of the Islamic Republic and the reign of the Ayatollah’s in Iran. The first proof of this horrendous threat that threatens the world more and more every day was the taking of the American Hostages under the Ayatollahs in 1979.
President Carter and many like him became the flag bearers of Human Rights Violations in Iran back then. Where is the flag today, and where has it been for the past 26 years?
The day “Our Shah” left Iran was the end of prosperity for Iran and stability for the region. Instead today as Iranians we are branded as terrorists and exiles, where once we were proud, respected Iranians leaving our country to study abroad only to return and serve our country and build a better and stronger Iran and help bring to life “his vision”.
It is still not too late. He is still watching over us and he still has faith in us to bring “his vision” to life. Lets get together and make his dreams, and our dreams come true.
Please join us in honoring His Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and remembering his dreams.
Big men never die. They live on forever.
LONG LIVE IRAN.
