The Orange (fruit)

Postby Farvardyn » Fri Jan 16, 2004 11:47 pm

The name of fruit "Orange" in Persian derives from the name of this country also.
Because this is the Portugueses who brought orange from China to Iran under 15th or 16th century.
Orange originaly is from China. this is why that its name in some languages like German, Dutch and Russian is Appelsin or something like this (With different writings and pronunciation in each language) which means Chinese Apple.

Yes, Mr. Babak
The work of Orange (fruit) is related to Portugal. as I said in my last message.
For more info you can read "Hormazd Nameh" of Poor-Davoud.
